The Estate
We really must start from the outside looking in, where you and your guests will fall in love with not only the venue, but the incredible landscape as well.
Just outside Edinburgh, at the foot of the Pentland Hills you will find our Cabins, Keep and Farmhouse looking out onto Harperrig Reservoir. A short distance beyond, you will find our stunning, contemporary venue.
With sustainability at the heart of the Estate, the venue was built on the site of the old sheep shed and many of the materials used have been repurposed from the working sheep farm. It is truly beautiful as it stands against the hillside and adding your own style through your flowers, table settings and décor throughout brings the venue to life as your own.
Styling
As you enter through the Silo, you can see how the barn is largely made from natural materials, we always love seeing how different couples use different florals to complement the venue.
Our venue is a canvas on which you can go wild! Bright, fresh, seasonal flowers give a striking first impression in the Ceremony Room or hanging pampas grass from the rafters can be a subtle and elegant statement in the Reception Room.
With natural table runners and foliage included in our packages, these are the perfect way to bring the beautiful outdoors in. Why not speak to us about the little extras we can add – like our log charger plates!
Food & Drink
Here at Cairns, we love to serve up beautiful, seasonal, locally sourced dishes all year round.
Be it hot canapés like our Mini Beef Cheek Pies with Crushed Fennel Seed Puff Lid or cold bites of heaven such as our Lemon verbena poached and torched peaches, served with a raspberry shortbread crumb, raspberry ripple choc ice and raspberry meringue shards, your guests won’t go hungry here.
With barn style venues offering up a beautiful, rustic charm, food can be a great way to amplify the atmosphere you’re going for. Whether that’s earthy sharing platters, or artistic plated dishes, our Chefs can create a menu to fit.

We put just as much thought into the drinks list for our weddings as we do the food. The Oystercatcher Bar fits perfectly in with the surroundings of the barn and you can even chat to our event designers about adding our amazing Cocktail Kilners filled with one of our Signature Cocktails or your own favourite cocktail to your day.

Don’t forget about dancing long into the night.
A rustic barn is the perfect space for plenty of dancing feet, and with the contemporary lighting, amazing acoustics, and a stage, it’s ideal for live music or your own playlist – whatever gets your toes tapping. How about throwing open the doors to the amazing terrace for some drinks by the firepits if it’s dark, or even enjoy some drinks and photographs in the sunshine.
